The name “Hemet," came from a settlement of Swedish immigrants in the area that became known as Lake Hemet. The rugged, forested San Jacinto Mountains reminded the settlers of their native land, so they called the area "hemmet," or "home." Please research Hemet’s Heritage? Meanwhile, the state of California has grown into the 4th largest economy in the entire world. Thus, money should be here, there, and everywhere in OUR Rich California City, and yet Her prosperity wanes. Why is Hemet no longer known for her wealth and what must WE do about it???? How can it be that Hemet, in only 50 years has gone from “One of the richest cities in America” to one where people tell me they no longer feel safe to go out at night???? The answers are simple; things get better when we get better; OUR rich city will once again gain in wealth when we as HER children are growing in health, wealth and wisdom OURSELVES. WE must not accept increasing disease and growing poverty. I promise, the time will pass; do the next 50 years restore and excel Hemet’s former prosperity, or does the current momentum of decline continue to plague OUR GREAT CITY???? The question each must ask is AM I getting better, thus making my city better, or will I acquiesce with ever-increasing declines???? The Bottom Line: Only we can make OUR city better by being better OURSELVES in all ways, but especially: Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally, Physically, Sexually, Socially, Environmentally, and Financially.
